Episode 180 - The Vampire Lovers
This week Jim Wallace and I take in a retro screening of Hammer studios 1970s collaboration with American International Pictures, The Vampire Lovers starring Peter Cushing and Ingrid Pitt. This sexually charged, fanged tooth outing brings more sultriness to the stiff collars of stuffy period England than previously thought possible. Buxom beauties, wearing nary a shred of decency, ruffle the lace doilies of two stately homes with their nocturnal goings on.
It was probably so risqué at the time that it made audiences tut loudly and shift uncomfortably in their seats while looking for a stray mint imperial in their corduroy jacket pockets.
